Chemifloc was founded in 1981, is a wholly-owned Irish company and is Ireland’s largest manufacturer of chemicals used to produce safe drinking water for Irish homes and businesses and to protect the environment by treating wastewater. 

The NSAI accredited manufacturing facility in Shannon has been certified to Quality Management standard ISO-9001:2015, Environmental Management standard ISO14001-2004 and Health and Safety Management standard OHSAS18001-2007 and manufactures product for the Irish and UK markets. 

Chemifloc has recently been involved in expansions at its established facilities at Shannon Foynes Port and acquisitions at facilities in Cork and New Ross. 

We are looking for a multi-disciplinary Mechanical/Project Engineer to join our busy bulk chemical plant in Shannon. The successful candidate will work with a team of chemists, fitters, electricians and plant supervisors, and tasks include trouble-shooting, process optimisation, plant upgrade and automation, as well as working on plant design, upscaling from R&D trials to full scale production.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Responsibility for Preventative Maintenance and breakdowns across all sites, including tanker/trailer maintenance, with support from a team of in-house fitters and electricians.
  • Implementation and management of the Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules carried out on equipment. Changes/upgrades of plant & equipment form part of this process.
  • Lead existing plant/process improvements through plant upgrades & automation.
  • Lead new plant design activities and coordinate with multi-discipline designers.
  • Perform I&C design work across several engineering disciplines
  • Assist in the generation of proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets for projects.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Degree in Engineering with a min of 5 years’ experience in engineering/maintenance roles. Experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical sector and Chemical engineering degree both an advantage but not a necessity.
  • Hands-on experience of preventive/ reactive maintenance.
  • Experience in process trouble-shooting and optimisation
  • Large scale industrial, skill sets: Valve selection/sizing, AB Automation platforms, chemical delivery systems an advantage
  • Proficient in modern IT and CAD/design packages
  • Strong relevant engineering/design experience in industrial/advanced technology sector.
  • Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
