Chemifloc Invest €500,000 in New Laboratory at Smithstown HQ

Shannon, Co. Clare 30th May 2017: Shannon headquartered company Chemifloc, the largest producer of water treatment chemicals in Ireland, has recently invested €500,000 in a new laboratory which will enable the company to develop and test new treatment processes for the production of clean drinking water.

The investment will see the creation of 2 new jobs and will be operated under the supervision of Eamon Nunan who has 40 years expertise in this field. The new facility will also provide training courses to water plant operators in carrying out water studies and testing.

Fergal Lawless, Executive Director of Chemifloc said: “Chemifloc is a wholly Irish owned company specialising in water treatment systems to deliver drinking water to homes and businesses throughout the island of Ireland. With this significant investment in additional and new water treatment laboratories, we can ensure to provide the best facilities possible for local authorities and private companies to carry out important coagulation studies and treatment tests. This investment follows on from our recently announced investment in new facilities at Foynes Shannon Port and will position us strongly for continued growth”.

Eamon Nunan, Projects Manager at Chemifloc said: “Good quality drinking water is essential for public health. Chemifloc is expert in coagulation – the process whereby impurities are identified in water and we also manufacture the chemicals that ensure our water is safe to drink. This investment will help us to remain at the forefront of our industry as Irish Water invests in new water treatment systems. Chemifloc will also partner with Irish Water to ensure their operators are skilled in the area of water testing”.

Helen Downes, Chief Executive of Shannon Chamber of Commerce said: “Chemifloc is an excellent example of an indigenous company who, through continuous investment in research and development, has greatly enhanced its product offerings. It’s a little known fact that a Shannon company plays such an important role in ensuring that the water we drink is of the highest standard, but a fact that reinforces the sophistication of Irish-owned enterprise. This latest and significant investment is commendable as it demonstrates intent to operate to the highest standards and to enable drinking water suppliers to do likewise.”
