Guidelines on the purchase of Water Treatment Chemicals

Increased public awareness about drinking water quality emphasises the need for the producer of public drinking water to minimise drinking water contamination risks which could arise from the use of unsuitable treatment chemicals.

To this end the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) has adopted into Irish Law the guidelines for the purchase of Chemicals used for treatment of water intended for human consumption, which have been prepared by the European Committee of Standardisation (CEN). The Irish standard reference number is I.S. CR 14269:2001 and copies of this are available from NSAI, Dublin, Tel. 01 8073800
